Koh Samui Immigration Office: the practical guide
Everything you need before visiting the Immigration Office in Maenam — documents, official fees, timing, and how to avoid a second trip.
The Koh Samui Immigration Office, located in Maenam (Surat Thani province), handles visa extensions, 90-day reports, re-entry permits and residence notifications for foreigners staying on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. It moved to its current, larger Maenam building in 2016.
Who must use the Samui office
Any foreigner staying on Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or Koh Tao who needs an extension of stay, a 90-day report, a re-entry permit or a change of address notification (TM30) falls under the Samui Immigration Office. There is no immigration office on Phangan or Tao, so islanders take the ferry to Samui.
Documents for a 30-day tourist extension
For a standard 30-day extension of a tourist entry, prepare the following before queuing:
- Completed and signed TM7 application form
- Passport, plus signed copies of the photo page, current visa or entry stamp, and TM6/arrival record where applicable
- One recent 4×6 cm photo
- 1,900 THB in cash (official government fee)
- Proof of address on the islands (TM30 registration by your hotel or landlord)
When to go and how long it takes
Extensions are normally accepted in the final week of your permitted stay. Arrive at opening time: morning queues are shortest at 8:30. A clean, complete file is usually processed the same morning; a missing document means a second ferry trip for Phangan and Tao residents.
We prepare files in advance on WhatsApp — forms filled, copies checked, photos verified — so one visit is enough. Message us with your visa category to get the exact checklist for your case.
